Ypres is a small town in West Flanders. There are traces of it in the early Middle Ages. Thanks to the wealth that has been accumulated gradually, people built impressive buildings like the cathedral. During World War I, Ypres, the main city of the British lines, was located only 8km from the front line, that is to say within range of the German guns. The city was completely destroyed. Signs of an inglorious past, there are many cemeteries around Ypres.
